This was a delightful surprise as I had forgotten my earplugs and my husband's snoring usually has us in two separate rooms due to lack of sleep on my part! The hotel actually had cute little bags in the bedrooms with earplugs so I might have been okay. The bathroom and sink area separated the two rooms.
BEST SANTA CRUZ HOTELS TV
I booked a room with two king beds and didn't realize that it was two rooms with a king bed in each room as well as a tv in each room. We have tried a few places and I loved Ocean Pacific Lodge. The place is definitely not worth the price tag and I hope no one ever comes here because even if they’re a decent budget hotel, any hotel that runs a scam and marks up the prices that high and claims a quality they cannot offer doesn’t deserve to book anyone. Even with the partial refund we were still paying over $200 in total. And the receptionists we did talk to were friendly and tried to help, but management would only allow a partial refund and were not available to address the issue in person. Which isn’t the fault of the hotel itself but when paired with poor noise insulation, it’s surprising they don’t have cops over every night. I get the feeling this is the type of crowd they usually get here. And when they let their door slam shut, it really reverberates through to the floor. You can hear the balcony doors sliding and their voices, music, etc. It also didn’t help they had several rowdy groups checked in as well who were partying though the night.
BEST SANTA CRUZ HOTELS CRACKED
In hindsight that might have been intentional because there were dents, plastered holes in the walls, and even a cracked doorframe which was only visible from the inside with sunlight. So we had 1 bathroom light and 1 bed light working. No wonder because despite the room being pretty large, it had next to no furniture and no lights except for the 2 lamps by the bed. There was no main lighting and the 1 light switch by the door didn’t work. Combined with the photos we saw online, we thought we were getting a decent place near downtown Santa Cruz, but we were in complete disbelief when we got the keys to our room. The night we stayed the prices were listed at $360. The photos online make the place seem simple and modern, and while I can tell they tried with some furniture upgrades (a bathroom mirror with integrated lighting, a desk with power and USB outlets), the building and rooms are very old, dirty, and have thin walls. Santa Cruz | 0.47km from Downtown Santa Cruz Don’t ever pay more than $100 for this hotel.
